A quiet ten minutes, and a little warmth

Hand made beeswax and unbleached muslin cones, sold in packs of 20, 50 and 100

Traditional hollow ear candles, hand made from unbleached muslin and natural beeswax, with a marked line showing where to stop burning.

People use them for the warmth and the stillness of the ritual. They are not a wax removal treatment, and there is no good evidence that they clean the ear, so if wax is your problem an ear washer or a clinician is the better answer.

Adults only, and never used alone.

Ear Candles (Bulk Pack of 100)

An ear candle is a hollow cone of muslin stiffened with beeswax. You lie on your side, the tapered end rests at the opening of the ear, and the other end is lit. It burns for about eight to ten minutes down to a marked line, and that is the whole of it.

Ear Candles (Bulk Pack of 100)

People have been doing this for a very long time, and the reason they keep doing it is the experience. Lying still, a little warmth at the side of your head, ten minutes where you are not doing anything else. That is what we sell it for.

Ear Candles (Bulk Pack of 100)

What it does not do is clean your ear. It is often said to create a gentle suction that draws wax out, but when that has been measured, no suction was found, and the residue left inside a burned cone turns out to be candle material rather than earwax. We would rather tell you that than have you buy it expecting something it will not do. If wax is the problem, the ear washer or the camera cleaner on this site will actually remove it, and a clinician will do it better still.

Ear Candles (Bulk Pack of 100)

The risks are real, which is why the safety instructions are not decoration. Hot wax can burn the ear or the face, a cone burned past its marker can drop ash, and pushing the cone into the canal can damage it. Never do this alone. You need another adult to hold and watch the candle, and a bowl of water within reach to put it out.

Ear Candles (Bulk Pack of 100)

Do not use one at all if you have ear pain, discharge, grommets, a perforated eardrum or any hearing loss, and never on a child. Some medical professionals advise against ear candling altogether. That is a fair position and you should know it before you buy. If something is actually wrong with your ear, see someone about it rather than lighting a candle next to it.

Not sure yet? That is fine.

You can change your mind. Under the Consumer Rights Directive (2011/83/EU) you have 14 days from delivery to cancel for any reason, and a further 14 days to send it back in resaleable condition. We refund the price you paid, including standard delivery.

If it turns up faulty, damaged or not as described, that is on us. The EU sale of goods rules (Directive (EU) 2019/771) covers you, we pay the return postage, and you can have a repair, a replacement or your money back. Do professionals recommend ear candling?

Opinion is divided and many medical professionals advise against it. We sell it as a relaxation product, not on anyone's recommendation, and we would rather you knew that before buying.

What are the benefits of an ear candle?

Warmth, quiet and a few minutes of stillness. People who enjoy ear candling do so for the experience. We make no claim beyond that.

Are ear candles safe to use at home?

Only with care, and never alone. You need another adult to hold and watch the candle, a bowl of water within reach, and you must stop at the marked line. Do not use one if you have ear pain, discharge, grommets, a perforated eardrum or hearing loss.

How does an ear candle work?

What is an ear candle used for?

Relaxation. People use them for the warmth and the calm of the ritual, often as part of a wind-down routine. It is not a cleaning tool and it is not a treatment.

Buying Guide

What ear candling actually is

An ear candle is a hollow cone of unbleached muslin stiffened with beeswax. One end is tapered to sit at the opening of the ear; the other end is lit. It burns for eight to ten minutes down to a marked line and is then put out in water. The practice is old and turns up in a lot of cultures, which is part of why people are drawn to it.

What it does, and what it does not

It produces warmth at the side of your head and ten minutes in which you are lying still and not doing anything else. People who enjoy ear candling enjoy it for that.

It does not clean your ear. It is often described as creating a gentle suction that draws wax out, but when that has been measured no suction was found, and the residue left inside a burned cone turns out to be candle material rather than earwax. We would rather tell you that here than have you buy a pack expecting something it will not do. If wax is your actual problem, an ear washer or a clinician will deal with it and a candle will not.

How a session goes

You need another adult. This is not a thing to do on your own, and that is not a formality.

Lie on your side with the ear you are treating facing up. Pass the cone through a protective disc so nothing can drop onto your face or hair. Rest the tapered end at the opening of the ear canal, not pushed into it. Your helper lights the other end and stays with it the whole time, with a bowl of water within reach. When the flame burns down to the marked line, they take it out and extinguish it in the water. Most people describe a warm, slightly crackly sensation and nothing more.

Safety, in plain terms

Hot wax can burn an ear or a face. A cone burned past its marker can drop ash. A cone pushed into the canal can damage it. Those are the real risks and they are the reason for the marker, the disc, the water and the second person.

Do not use ear candles at all if you have ear pain, discharge, grommets, a perforated eardrum or any hearing loss, and never use them on a child. Some medical professionals advise against ear candling altogether. That is a fair position, you should know it before you buy, and if something is actually wrong with your ear you should see someone about it rather than lighting a candle next to it.

Choosing a pack size

A session uses one cone per ear, so a pack of 20 is about ten sessions. The 50 and 100 packs are the same cones in larger quantities, and they are what salons and wellness centres tend to order. There is no difference in the product between the three.
