The problem it solves
The difficulty with cleaning your own ears is that you cannot see them. Everything you do is by feel, which is exactly why people push wax inwards rather than getting it out, and why a tool you cannot aim is a tool worth being careful with.
This puts a small lit camera in the tip and streams it to your phone. You can see the wax, see the tool, and see when the wax is gone. That is a real improvement in safety over working blind.
Using it
Charge it by USB. A full charge gives about thirty minutes of continuous use, which is far longer than any sensible session, and it holds standby for around twenty days so it is usually ready when you pick it up.
Pair it with the app, choose a tip that sits at the opening of the canal, and watch the screen rather than your hands. Work only where you can actually see wax. Move slowly. If it hurts, take it out.
What it is not
It is not a diagnostic device, and this is the part worth being clear about. Seeing your ear canal on a screen tells you what it looks like, not what is wrong with it. A red patch, a dark shadow or something you were not expecting is not something to interpret yourself. Pain, discharge, bleeding, hearing loss or anything that worries you belongs with a doctor or an audiologist.
Being able to see further in also does not mean you should go further in. Wax deep in the canal is impacted, and impacted wax needs a clinician with proper suction, not a longer reach at home.
Some listings for this style of device suggest using it to look at mouths, noses, throats and skin. We sell it for ears, because that is what it is shaped and lit for.
Who should not use it
Anyone with grommets, a perforated eardrum or previous ear surgery should not put anything into the ear at all. Do not use it on an ear that is sore or discharging. On a child, only an adult should operate it, only for wax plainly visible at the opening, and anything else should be seen by a doctor.
Looking after it
Wipe the tips with warm soapy water and dry them fully. Do not submerge the body or the charging port; the tip end is splash resistant and the rest is not. Replace cracked or deformed tips, and keep your own rather than sharing them.
